Kia Ora e te Whanau,
Yesterday the school was notified that the Grow O Tautahi
Garden Show would be cancelled due to Covid-19.
Although we are saddened that the garden show has been
cancelled, we must acknowledge the time, dedication and
hard work of Mrs Ryan, the Garden Club and the many
parents that have been involved. The journey for this event
began at the end of last year and continued through the
holidays and Term 1. Thank you to Mrs Ryan for her
organisation, creativity and for providing this opportunity
for the St Albans Catholic School students. Plants from the
garden show will be sold from the old Church site on Somme
Street over the next few days.
The school is getting regular updates from the Ministry of
Education regarding Covid-19 and we are advised to follow
the advice of the Ministry of Education and Health.
We are
reminding students to:
• Wash hands with soap and water for 20 seconds
and drying thoroughly - before and after eating as
well as after attending the toilet
• Covering coughs and sneezes with clean tissues or
with an elbow
• Putting used tissues in the bin
We have also been notified that staff and students need to
stay home if they are unwell in any way. The Ministry of
Education has expressed unless students are unwell
themselves, then parents should keep sending them to
schools and early learning centres as these environments
continue to be safe and the best place for them to continue
their learning.
During this Lenten Season St Albans Catholic School is
supporting St Vincent de Paul with their 40 bags in 40 days
collection, with a slight variation. Many children have been coming in to donate toys and books in the
past week.
Nga mihi nui,
Abraham Atherton (Principal – Tumuaki)
